As more people become aware of the ethical, environmental, and health benefits of a plant-based diet, vegan alternatives to traditional meat products are gaining popularity. Among these alternatives is vegan jerky. It stands out as a tasty and satisfying snack that replicates the texture and flavor of traditional jerky without any animal-derived ingredients. For those passionate about animal rights, choosing vegan jerky is a compassionate choice that helps reduce animal suffering.

Laurel said, “These are exactly what I was looking for as an easy savory snack to take on hikes. They are much higher in protein than most of the other non-meat jerkies I was finding, and the taste and texture are fantastic. I have been a vegetarian for 20 years, so I can’t compare these to real meat… the main complaint in other comments seems to be that it doesn’t taste like meat; so as long as you are looking for a savory jerky-type snack, and not expecting a true meat substitute, you should be happy. These are savory, satisfyingly chewy, soft enough not to hurt my teeth, and even the flavors I expected not to like have been delicious. My only complaint is that they smell a bit like dog food, but if you don’t take a big whiff as soon as you open the package, the smell isn’t that strong. The taste, texture, and protein content more than make up for the odd smell. I’ll definitely be buying these again.”
4. BeLeaf
BeLeaf Spicy Vegan Jerky delivers a fiery kick with its hot, meat-like plant-based jerky. Low carb, non-GMO, and dairy-free, it offers a savory and spicy snack option. Available in multiple flavors including Thai Hot and Sour, Original, and Wasabi, a 7 oz pack is priced at $10.49.
Heather said, “Delicious. I was worried by the negative reviews, but I love a good veg jerky so I got it anyway. I’m so glad I did! The taste is spicy and savory, and yes there is a bit of a licorice undertone to it but I don’t find it overwhelming, just good flavor. I do NOT like squishy or soft jerky (looking at you primal spirit strips and Stonewalls, yuck!) This jerky had enough toughness to be a good chew and texture. It wasn’t as tough as Pleather jerky or Dream jerky, which are my favorites! The texture reminded me of the Beyond Meat jerky that has sadly been discontinued. Firm enough to put it high on the list. The pieces are rather big, but that is easily remedied. I have to hide the bag from myself as I could easily polish this all off without even trying lol. I say recommended, at least for the Spicy flavor.”
5. UNLIMEAT
UNLIMEAT Jerky offers a high-protein, Korean BBQ-flavored alternative made from plants. With 22g of protein per serving and no MSG or cholesterol, it’s a nutritious snack at 90 kcal per serving. Sold in packs of six 2.5 oz bags, it’s priced at $32.99.
Darda said, “I was debating between Korean BBQ & smoky chili, but I had too good experience with Korean BBQ so I had to order smoky chili for the fair start. The flavor is on point with good smokiness and right spiciness. And I wanna talk about the texture. It’s like good chewy chicken skin or like half-dried squid and the good flavor is in there as much as I can chew. It was a really good beer snack to have. Now I can safely order Korean BBQ flavor lol.”
6. Unisoy
Unisoy Plant Based Jerky offers a sustainable and non-GMO snack option with a classic jerky taste. Available in flavors like Black Pepper, Teriyaki, and Hot & Spicy, this 6-pack provides high-protein vegan snacks with low sodium. It’s priced at $36.05.
Candus said, “Love the option for a variety pack. That way I could try several of the flavors. Personally, carne asada was my favorite out of these 3. Before going vegan, I loved steak. These are a great option for a snack when on the go, hiking, camping, or boating. Self-sealed packs kept the jerky nice and fresh, but honestly, it didn’t last too long. Will be buying again.”
7. Noble Jerky
Noble Jerky presents “healthy vegan jerky” in a Teriyaki flavor, with other options including BBQ, Sweet Sesame, and Hickory. Each 2.47 oz bag comes in a pack of three, providing a satisfying and vegetarian-friendly snack option priced at $14.99.
One reviewer said, “Okay, so let me start by saying the overuse of the word “addicted” irritates me. But I can’t seem to shake the urge to constantly eat this stuff. I think about it on the way home. Get up in the middle of the night and bumble around the cabinet. I just can’t get enough. Mind you, I’ve been a vegetarian for 25 years and maybe I don’t remember what actual jerky is like, but this does it for me. Even my meat and potatoes-eating dad and husband tried it and said it was “actually not bad”. (Huge compliment. Huge.) I have tried a few other brands but this one, to me, is the best of the best. I like the hickory. I like the teriyaki. I like the BBQ. It’s a little sticky and sweet but it’s great. I don’t get all the negative reviews but then again, everyone has different tastebuds and expectations. This is a vegan jerky, after all. I really would hate to see how much I spend on this a month but it is worth it. It’s the only thing I ever get myself and I like it, dang it! And now I want some, so here I go again!!!”
8. It’s Jerky Y’all
It’s Jerky Y’all offers vegan jerky seasoned with sea salt and pepper, providing a tender and tasty snack that’s high in protein and low in carbs. This 3-pack is gluten-free, non-GMO, and suitable for Whole30 diets, priced at $22.48.
Tenesia said, “About to order my 6th order! I haven’t had meat in over 20 years. But I do remember luving beef jerky. Sweetie this vegan brand of jerky will have all your mula gone. Soft, tender, moist, and very flavorful. They have other flavors but I’ll stick with my normal one. So good I had to tag them on the gram!”
9. Pan’s Mushroom Jerky
Pan’s Mushroom Jerky offers organic, vegan snacks made from shiitake mushrooms. High in fiber and gluten-free, this variety pack includes flavors like Original, Zesty Thai, Salt & Pepper, and BBQ. Sold in a pack of four 2.2 oz bags is priced at $28.79.
Sherry said, “Delicious! Saw these on an old episode of Shark Tank & decided to give it a try. Really liked it! A little chewier than regular jerky. Like the original & Salt & Pepper. Little disappointed that the Applewood BBQ had chili pepper as one of the ingredients as I can’t do spicy! Highly recommend for flavor & would love it if they could make larger size bags!”
10. Moku
Moku Plant-Based Mushroom Jerky offers Hawaiian Teriyaki, Sweet and Spicy, and Original flavors in this 4-pack variety. These vegan snacks are gluten-free, soy-free, and non-GMO, with no artificial sweeteners. Each 2.0 oz pack is priced at $28.79.
Benn said, “I have spent so long not eating jerky because the ones I like most are high in carbs. I am trying to eat less meat, more plants, and less sugar. Sometimes jerky is too chewy, sometimes it is too sweet, and it’s very hard to find one that fills the jerky craving without the associated guilt. I was so excited to learn about Moku. A friend mentioned to me that the taste was incredible, so I wanted to see whether it was possible for mushroom jerky to be a thing. I can 100% attest to the fact that it is amazing. I was expecting dry and chewy. Instead, it feels like real food with thick and dense to help you feel full, while still giving you a chewing workout- without any flaky dry pieces. The flavors are just right- not too sweet, not too salty yet full of flavor. You can definitely tell the flavors have been balanced by a is chef. I am impressed. I will be back for more Moku!”
