Here, I discovered the art of cooking being showcased in a Jacques Pépin video, my curiosity piqued from the onset. Who wouldn’t be?

We’ve adapted his approach slightly to suit our preferences, opting for a crisper French toast with less absorption. When selecting an ice cream, the crucial factor to consider is opting for a custard-based variety.

While some ice creams do contain eggs and are classified as custard-style, the availability of flavors beyond this specific type is not necessarily dependent on the use of eggs in their composition. When you’re in the mood for a touch of domesticity, consider pairing your French toast with one of these delectable homemade ice cream flavors.

Indulge in the unbridled luxury of Coffee Ice Cream, a sweet masterpiece that perfectly distills the invigorating essence of a steaming hot cup of coffee on a sun-kissed morning. Crisp notes of cinnamon expertly woven throughout a decadent vanilla custard ice cream, leaving a warm, lingering finish on the palate.

French Toast with Ice Cream

  • Brioche bread
  • Butter

Melt one tablespoon of butter in a nonstick skillet set over low heat. Swirl to coat the pan. Dredge a slice of bread in the ice cream to evenly coat both sides. Carefully place the bread into the scorching skillet. Try it again with a second slice of bread.

Permit the bread slices to toast for roughly two minutes on their initial side before flipping them over to complete the cooking process, which should take an additional two minutes to achieve a crispy texture.

Serving the cooked French toast on a plate, I then proceeded to prepare the remaining butter and bread for the cooking process, ensuring each slice was perfectly toasted and golden brown. Savor the final morsels on the plate that once cradled the now-vanished scoop of melted ice cream. Savor warm, accompanied by your preferred toppings.
