Homemade Dinner Rolls [Vegan]

Can’t beat a warm, fresh-baked vegan dinner roll straight from the oven? Here’s what you’ll need to make these soft, fluffy masterpieces:

For the rolls:

  • 3 cups wheat flour
  • 1 tablespoon white sugar
  • 1 teaspoon active dry yeast
  • 1/2 cup warm water
  • 1/2 cup plant-based milk
  • 1 tablespoon of softened unsalted vegan butter
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Topping:

  • 2 tablespoons vegan butter, melted
  • 1 tablespoon dried parsley
  • 1 clove garlic (optional)
  • 1 pinch salt

Baking Delicious Vegan Dinner Rolls from Scratch?

  1. Combine lukewarm water with a small quantity of sugar and yeast in a shallow vessel. Allow the mixture to sit for 5-10 minutes.
  2. Melt the vegan butter. Combine the flour and salt in a large mixing bowl, then whisk together using a sturdy wooden spoon. After carefully combining the warm water, sugar, and salt, add the milk, melted butter, and stir until fully incorporated before introducing the yeast mixture to the mixture.
  3. Gently stir the mixture thoroughly with a sturdy wooden spoon, ensuring all components are harmoniously blended. Once the dough forms a cohesive mass, remove it from the mixing bowl and engage in a 7-to-10-minute kneading process to develop an elastic yet supple texture.
  4. Separate the dough into thirteen to fourteen uniform portions, then shape each section into a neat ball. Arrange the items onto a baking sheet that has been generously covered with parchment paper. Wrap the dough tightly in plastic wrap to prevent air from reaching it, and place it in a dry, enclosed space to maintain its optimal rising conditions.
  5. Allow the dough to rise for approximately one hour, or until it has doubled in volume. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and bake the dinner rolls for 35 to 40 minutes, or until they reach a golden brown color.
  6. Combine melted vegan butter with dried parsley and a light sprinkle of salt. Add finely chopped garlic to taste, if you desire.
