Why Our Recipe
- Gives you that patriotic red, white, and blue vibe in a delicious fruit salad.
- Use a cookie cutter and add to the fun with some star-shaped action!
- Perfect for Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, and Veteran’s Day, but still delicious to serve at any other occasion.
This recipe was born when we were hosting a 4th of July and wanted to take the fruit salad we love and make it feel a little more American. We found unique ingredients that complement one another in an amazing symphony of flavors. The fresh fruit, salty cheese, and sweet honey are enough to make your mouth water! This will be sure to be a hit at any event.
Ingredient Notes
Red
- Seedless Watermelon: Can also use cookie cutters or melon ballers to bring more fun to your salad.
- Strawberries: Look to have them as ripe as possible.
White
- Crumbled feta: This salty factor brings a creamy texture and enhances the other flavors. Cheese and fruit are just a perfect match!
Blue
- Blueberries & Blackberries: Look to have the berries as ripe as possible.
And the rest
- Pineapple: Can use a cookie cutter to make into star-shaped pieces or simply dice into bite-sized cubes.
- Fresh Mint: The refreshing and light mint is perfect for the summer heat.
- Honey: This is another flavor element and a sticky sweetness. You don’t have to use it, but we love the added sweetness and texture.
- Lemon juice: This brings brightness to the salad and another layer of flavor.
Cutting Pineapple
Delicious pineapple takes the stage to bring in the stars of our flag with our red, white, and blue colors. Once you cut them into small pieces, you can use a cookie cutter for that iconic star shape.
Even if you choose to cut them into bite-sized cubes, they can still represent our shining starts.
