  • Don’t hasten the roasting process! Ensure that your pumpkin is thoroughly cooked until it’s tender enough to be easily pierced with a fork prior to processing. This tender piece of meat should shed its skin effortlessly. If the flesh is not tender enough or remains firm, the resulting puree will likely prove coarse and unrefined, potentially featuring an unpleasantly grainy texture.
  • When making homemade pumpkin puree, keep in mind that it can be slightly thinner than canned varieties. If your fresh puree appears too watery, simply strain it through a fine-mesh sieve lined with cheesecloth, much like you would thicken yogurt for a creamier texture.
