Beyond Meat is gearing up for grilling season with the launch of some new products, including the fourth-generation Beyond Sausage, now available at grocery stores nationwide. The updated Beyond Sausage promises an improved experience with “enhanced flavor and a meatier texture.” Joy Bauer, a registered dietitian and Beyond Meat nutrition advisor, praised the new sausage for its health benefits. “The new Beyond Sausage is incredibly juicy, meaty, and delicious, and I love that it’s made with heart-healthy avocado oil, helping to lower the saturated fat to just 2 grams per link,” Bauer said. She also highlighted its lower sodium content and simplified ingredient list compared to the previous version.
Introducing these new products comes at a critical time for Beyond Meat, which saw a net revenue decrease of 30.5% in the second quarter of 2023. CEO Ethan Brown acknowledged the need to better communicate the health benefits and clean ingredients of their products to attract new customers. He emphasized that educating consumers about the health advantages of Beyond Meat products is essential for the brand’s growth.
The new Beyond Sausage, made with avocado oil and containing 66% less saturated fat than its predecessor, is designed to appeal to health-conscious consumers and those curious about vegetarian options. Diana Stavaridis, senior culinary manager at Beyond Meat, noted the sausage’s versatility. “From classic sausage, peppers, and onions, to the perfect protein-topper for pastas, salads, and more, these juicy sausages grill gorgeously and sear super well thanks to the addition of avocado oil,” Stavaridis said.
In celebration of the new product and the expansion of the Beyond IV line, Beyond Meat is also launching its first-ever cookbook, “Serve Love.” This collection of heart-healthy recipes, certified by the American Heart Association’s Heart-Check program, features dishes using Beyond Sausage, Beyond Burger, Beyond Beef, and Beyond Steak. The cookbook is available for free on the Beyond Meat website.
