Creamy caesar dressing is a salad classic for a reason; flavorful and full of umami, it makes every salad special. It also makes a fantastic dip for raw vegetables!

Creamy Caesar Dressing

Caesar salad is one of those salads that even the most committed non-salad lovers like. I credit the dressing with this minor miracle because it packs so much flavor nobody can resist it!

I know a lot of folks turn their nose up at the inclusion of anchovy paste or anchovies, because they don’t always sound appetizing, but trust me when I tell you they belong here. It melts into the homemade caesar salad dressing and lends its powerful umami abilities to the dressing in a way nothing else can.

And the truth is that without the anchovy paste or anchovies, it simply won’t taste like the caesar dressing everyone knows and loves.

Caesar Salad Dressing Recipe

To make this easy caesar salad dressing, you’ll need the following ingredients:

  • mayonnaise
  • lemon juice
  • Dijon mustard
  • Worcestershire sauce
  • anchovy paste or anchovies
  • garlic
  • Parmesan cheese
  • salt
  • pepper

Anchovy paste is an easy and waste free way to make this easy homemade caesar dressing; you can simply squeeze as much as you need from the tube and stash the rest in the refrigerator for future uses.

You’ll find the anchovy paste near the canned fish in most stores. However, if you can’t find it, though, you can simply substitute 3 or 4 anchovy filets from a can and mash them thoroughly with a fork before combining them with the remaining ingredients.

Caesar Salad Dressing without Egg

If you’re seeking an egg-free, Caesar Dressing Recipe, you can use vegan mayonnaise. Keep in mind that the resulting dressing will not be vegan because of the anchovies.

To make our luscious dressing, combine the mayonnaise, lemon juice, mustard, and Worcestershire in a small bowl. Whisk to combine.

Add the anchovy paste, garlic, Parmesan, salt, and pepper. Stir or whisk again to combine. Taste the dressing and adjust seasonings as desired. Transfer to an airtight container and refrigerate until ready to use.

Servings: 18 tablespoons

  • In a small bowl, combine the mayonnaise, lemon juice, mustard, and Worcestershire. Whisk to combine.

  • Add the anchovy paste, garlic, Parmesan, salt, and pepper. Stir or whisk again to combine. Taste the dressing and adjust seasonings as desired. Transfer to an airtight container and refrigerate until ready to use.

I like to use a microplane to grate the cheese, as the fine shred distributes nicely into the dressing.

This dressing will keep nicely in the refrigerator for up to a week.
