Creamy Mushroom Hand Pies [Vegan]

Vegan Creamy Mushroom Filling Ingredients:

1. 2 cups mixed mushrooms (button, cremini, shiitake), sliced
2. 2 tablespoons olive oil
3. 1 onion, finely chopped
4. 2 cloves garlic, minced
5. 2 teaspoons tomato paste
6. 2 teaspoons vegan Worcestershire sauce
7. 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
8. 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
9. 1/2 teaspoon salt
10. 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
11. 1/4 cup nutritional yeast
12. 1/2 cup vegetable broth

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 white onion
  • 1 garlic clove
  • 7 ounces brown mushrooms
  • 1 teaspoon maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon balsamic vinegar
  • 1/2 teaspoon thyme
  • 1/2 teaspoon oregano
  • 3 1/3 tablespoons non-dairy cream
  • A dash of salt and pepper.
  • 1 sheet of puff pastry
  • Extra cream to glaze

Vegan Creamy Mushroom Hand Pies: A Savory Delight for Any Occasion?

  1. Warm oil in a skillet over moderate heat.
  2. Add sliced onions to the skillet. Add minced garlic to the skillet. Coarsely mince the mushrooms and sauté them in the skillet.
  3. Allow the mixture to cook until the mushrooms and onions reach a deep caramelization, their natural sweetness heightened by the slow-cooking process.
  4. Adding a drizzle of pure Canadian maple syrup to your onions while they’re cooking can significantly enhance the process of caramelization, resulting in a rich, deep flavor profile. Add balsamic to deglaze. Mix well.
  5. Season with additional herbs, salt, and pepper as desired. With the cream added, gently lower the heat setting. Let the mixture simmer for a few minutes, allowing it to thicken gradually.
  6. Allow the mixture to temper and rest for a short while before proceeding with assembly. Preheat
  7. Preheat oven to 350°F. Roll out the puff pastry.
  8. Craft twelve uniform discs using a cookie cutter or the circumference of a glass to create identical shapes.
  9. Arrange approximately one tablespoon of the rich and earthy mushroom duxelles atop each of the six flaky pastry rounds. Position a delicate pastry circle atop the earthy mushrooms. Seal the pie’s crust edges by pressing them gently downwards with a fork. Make a few small slits at the top of the item to enable steam to vent during baking.
