Truffles are so amazingly decadent and delicious with their outer shell and soft, creamy ganache center. Celebrate their awesomeness in the spirit of National Truffles Day by making your own sweet treats. Escape to homemade, dreamy, dairy-free dessert land in your kitchen with these steps:
1. Make your Filling
First, think about what you want the most decadent part of your truffles to taste like. Chocolate, fruity, sweet, salty? For fruit, try a banana or raspberry filling with this Raw Raspberry and Banana-Peanut Butter Truffles recipe. For a richer taste, use soy cream, dark chocolate, and Irish whiskey in this Whiskey Truffles with Almond Praline recipe. If you’re feeling adventurous and want to make an outside-of-the-box truffle, try Spiked Sweet Potato Truffles.

2. Go Smooth or Crunchy
If you decide to make your filling silky smooth and creamy, think strawberry with this Raw Strawberry Creme Chocolate Truffle recipe. Or, you can add a bit of crunch to the center. Blended walnuts, oats, and dates give some texture to these Raw Truffles with Chia, Carob and Coconut. You can take a creamy center mix and add chopped nuts toward the end of the cooking process. After you are finished with your center filling mix, shape them into balls and let them sit so they firm up, or do as the recipe instructions require.

3. Cover the Center Piece
Coat that delicious, creamy ganache center in more deliciousness. Cacao powder, agave, and melted cacao butter make up the simple sauce for these Raw Hazelnut Chocolate Truffles. In these Vegan Bitter Cardamon Truffles, you cover the center by simply rolling it heavily in cocoa powder. Use white chocolate in these Baileys White Chocolate Truffles.

4. Coat Truffles
Nuts, coconut, pretzel pieces, dried fruit pieces — the possibilities are endless for topping off your truffles. Roll these Raw Cacao Truffles in shredded, dried organic unsweetened coconut flakes. Use coconut flakes, carob powder, and chia seeds in this Raw Truffles with Chia, Carob and Coconut recipe. Goji berries and cinnamon are also good choices.

5. Add a Finishing Touch
You may already be finished and satisfied with the end presentation of your truffles by this point. Depending on what route you choose, add a finishing touch to your creation with a sauce drizzled over the top. Make a pistachio drizzle for these Pistachio Chocolate Truffles. Or, consider drizzling in chocolate sauce, raspberry sauce, maple syrup, agave syrup, or caramel sauce for extra decadence or an oomph if presenting it on a plate for a party.
