We make salmon for dinner all the time and while my balsamic salmon and air fryer salmon recipes are our usual go-to’s, I decided to switch things up and try a maple glazed salmon. It turned out to be absolutely delicious! Maybe even better than the balsamic salmon? You can be the judge.

We love serving this maple glazed salmon for dinner with a side of rice or quinoa and some sort of veggie like these sautéed vegetables or roasted broccoli, but it’s delicious however you serve it!

Why You’ll Love This Recipe

  • Flavorful – There’s something about the salty and sweet flavor combo! It’s so delicious!
  • Quick & Easy – The prep and cooking are both super quick! Just marinate for 20-30 minutes and broil in less than 10. You’ll have dinner on the table in no time.
  • Versatile – Serve this salmon for dinner with a grain of choice and a side salad or roasted veggies like this easy spinach salad or roasted sweet potatoes.

Ingredients Needed

  • salmon – you’ll want two 6 oz evenly sized filets of salmon with the skin on. I recommend getting individual filets from your grocer but don’t be afraid of frozen filets, either! Flash frozen fish can be just as healthy. Just make sure the salmon is thawed if you are using frozen filets.
  • tamari, soy sauce or coconut aminos – all of these options work well, I just recommend using low sodium so the end product isn’t too salty. There’s no need for added salt thanks to the tamari/soy sauce.
  • maple syrup – can’t have maple glazed salmon without maple syrup! This adds a nice sweetness that balances the rest of the flavors perfectly. Make sure you get pure maple syrup and not pancake syrup as that will have corn syrup and a ton of added sugars.
  • lemon juice – this will brighten all of the flavors in the dish. I recommend using freshly squeezed lemon juice as opposed to store-bought.
  • fresh garlic and ginger – two great flavor enhancers to this marinade.
  • ground pepper – to season the dish.

Recipe Substitutions

  • Lemon juice: Don’t have fresh lemon on hand? Swap it with a vinegar like apple cider vinegar, white vinegar or rice vinegar.
  • Maple syrup: Even though this is a maple glazed salmon you can totally swap the maple with honey or agave. The salmon will just have a different flavor.
  • Don’t have fresh garlic and ginger? Fresh garlic and ginger is best, but if you’re in a pinch, 1/4 teaspoon of garlic powder and ground ginger will work as a substitute.
  • Swap the protein: If you don’t have salmon, you can use other types of seafood like trout, mahi mahi, halibut, cod or even shrimp. If you prefer a plant-based option, try marinating tofu or tempeh in the same glaze.

With a rich beef broth-based sauce and a blend of spices, this chili is sure to become a new favorite. And the best part? It's incredibly easy to make in your Instant Pot!What sets this recipe apart from others is the addition of a can of diced green chilies for an extra kick of flavor. The beans add natural sweetness, while the tomatoes bring tanginess.

How to Make Maple Glazed Salmon

Step 1: Whisk together the marinade in a small bowl.

Step 2: Place the fish in a bowl or glass container with the marinade, minus 3 Tablespoons. Marinate the fish, flesh side down, for about 20-30 minutes.

Step 3: Place the salmon on a baking sheet skin side down and broil for about 7 minutes.

Step 4: Remove from oven and drizzle each filet with reserved maple glaze before serving.

Brittany’s Tip!

This salmon cooks quickly so watch it closely to prevent overcooking! The fish should be opaque and flake easily with a fork.

How to Serve

This is such a great recipe because it pairs with so many different sides! I love serving it with a grain and a veggie but feel free to get creative! Here are some ideas:

How to Store Leftovers

This salmon will keep fresh in an airtight container in the fridge for up to three days. I recommend reheating in the oven or toaster oven for the best results!

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you eat salmon skin?

You sure can! The skin contains the same nutrients found in salmon. Just make sure you’re eating high-quality fish from a reliable source if you choose to eat the skin. Of course, it’s a personal preference and you can just slide the flesh off before eating as well!

How long should I marinate the salmon for?

For the best results, I suggest marinating the salmon for at least 20-30 minutes, but you can marinate overnight for more flavor. Avoid marinating for more than 24 hours as the acidic marinade can start to break down the fish.
