Whisking together in a small saucepan are the ingredients: milk, sugar, and salt. Split the vanilla pods lengthwise along their natural seam and carefully extract the fragrant caviar within.

Carefully pour the fragrant vanilla mixture into the awaiting pan. Simmer the mixture nearly to a rolling boil before reducing the heat to a gentle, persistent bubble that maintains its vigor for several minutes, ensuring the sugar has fully dissolved.
